Obituary for Charles Woolum

On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, Charles Allen Woolum, 85, of Varney, WV went to be with Jesus surrounded by his family, at his residence. He was born at Cinderella, WV on August 17, 1937. He was greeted in Heaven by his loving & devoted wife of 44 years, Clara Ann, one grandson, Dustin Ellis, his parents, Arthur & Ola Woolum, 3 sisters; Eva Morgan, Myrtle Hall, & Rosella Taylor, 2 brothers; Harvey & Hubert Woolum.

He was a Veteran with the United States Army. He was a retired Coal Miner, with more than 28 years underground. He enjoyed playing checkers, watching Westerns, flea markets, old money & his spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are 7 children, 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren & 3 great-great grandchildren. One daughter, Melanie (Jim) Ferguson of Pecks Mill, WV, six sons, Arthur “Jay” Woolum of Varney, WV, Jessie (Robin) Woolum of Georgetown, KY, Frank (Gail) Woolum of Chapmanville, WV, Charles, Jr “Charlie”(Michelle) Woolum of Chattaroy, WV, Jody (Stephanie) Woolum of Varney, WV & Scott (Malena) Woolum of Delbarton, WV. Grandchildren, Tasha (Charlie) Abraham, Heather (Thomas) Kazee, Chris Woolum, , Frank, Jr (Ashley) Woolum, Trevor Woolum Ashleigh (Tyler) Salyers, Peyton Woolum, Halei Woolum, Dylan Woolum, Alison Woolum, Tanner (Madison) Woolum, Caden, Jo-Brayden, & Kiera Woolum, Hunter Woolum, great-grandchildren Jacob (Megan) Townsend, Paige Townsend, McKenzie & Athena Woolum, Sierra Kazee, Finn Woolum, Piper, Kylie, Alayah, Justice & Charlee Abraham who was named in his honor, great-great grandchildren Maia (Browning)Isaac & Lucas Townsend. He is survived by 3 brothers; Billy, Ravin & Alvin Woolum & 2 sisters; Pearl Cresong & Goldie Baker. And a very special niece, Melissa Burke who has gone above & beyond for his medical care during his final weeks with us.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you spend quality time with your family, love them unconditionally & enjoy every day just as our Daddy did.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 am at the Regional Church of God in Delbarton WV. His grandson, Reverend Charlie Abraham will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Woolum Cemetery in Baileysville, WV. Visitation will be at the Regional Church Thursday evening 6 -9 pm.
